Orcasound

Orcasound connects you to a world of underwater sound. Listen live for whales, report noise, and help save critically endangered orcas. With a network of hydrophones (underwater microphones), Orcasound picks up sounds from beneath the waves and lets anyone with internet access participate in crowdsourced marine conservation. Listeners can report what they hear, instantly alerting researchers and conservation teams. Every report from the community helps scientists protect, study, and understand one of the world's most intelligent species. The backend is built using Elixir and Phoenix, which has been amazing for powering live listening features in the app. We're a small team so tools like Ash and Oban have been instrumental in enabling us to build a lot with limited resources. We're excited that there are so many cool projects in the Elixir community! We would like to next check out tools like Nerves for managing our streaming devices and Nx/Axon for our ML efforts
